Deep within the captivating rolling hills, lived a shepherd boy. His life was essentially unadulterated, simple yet virtuous. His only responsibility was essentially to look after his flock of ewes.

One day he dashed into the village yelling “Wolf! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!” The frightened villagers rushed up the hills for rescue but found no wolf.
The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This trick continued for a few days more. Yet, one morning, a real wolf actually charge at the grazing sheep. The shepherd boy raced for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.
Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but could protect here only few of his sheep. Heartbroken, he went back to the village only to receive a lesson on honesty and the results of crying wolf.
His tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the significance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is tough to earn back. It's a story as appropriate today as it was then.
